In addition to belonging to a research community with similar interests, benefits of SSHB membership include receiving the Annals at a much-reduced rate (including online access) and reduced registration fees at the Society's Symposia.

 How to apply for membership

Membership of the Society is open to those who work or have worked in the field of human biology, as defined on the home page. Membership is by election. Applicants are nominated by two Ordinary Members using the form that can be downloaded below or appearing in the Annals. If it is not possible to find two existing members to nominate you, please attach a CV to your application. Applications are scrutinised by the Committee. Recommendations are made to the membership at the AGM for approval.

Please contact the SSHB Secretary for further information about joining the SSHB.

 Membership subscriptions

Subscriptions are due on 1st January each year. Subscriptions for 2007 are UK£39 per annum for ordinary members and UK£1 per annum for retired members (please note that this this does not include a subscription to the Annals). Students (those following courses  leading to diplomas or degrees and graduates registered for higher degrees) pay a single subscription of £5 on joining the SSHB. If students wish to receive the Annals, they have the option of paying a special reduced rate of 60% of the ordinary member subscription per annum.

Members should send subscriptions to the SSHB Treasurer. Payment should be in pounds sterling or the equivalent after bank charges. Payment may be made by Standing Order on a UK bank. Unfortunately, the SSHB is unable to receive payments made by debit/credit cards or by direct debit. Late payment may result in a delay in receiving the Annals of Human Biology.

North American members should send an annual subscription of US$65 as a dollar check to the SSHB North America Secretary/Treasurer, made payable to the Society for the Study of Human Biology

List of members

The SSHB membership list is published from time-to-time in the Annals. The paid up membership of the SSHB was published most recently in Volume 30, issue 6 of 2003.
