The 2009 SSHB symposium, on the theme of
'Human Dispersals', will be held at the beautiful Villa Mondragone, Rome, on 18-20th June 2009, under the
auspices of the AAI (Associazione Antropologica Italiana). The aim of the Symposium is
to reconstruct human colonization and migrations out of Africa applying
traditional and new approaches such as archaeology, genetics, molecular
anthropology, the recovery and analyses of ancient biomolecules, food
production and human diet. Alongside the first day symposium (which will also include proffered papers on the topic of human dispersals), there will be a chance for people to present proffered papers on any subject related to human biology. Michael Petraglia, University of Cambridge - Out of Africa: An archaeological assessment of the Indian Ocean dispersal route
Joachim Burger, University of Mainz -
Lactase persistence, dairying, and the peopling of Central Europe
during the early Holocene as seen from genetic data of human
archaeological populations and their domestic animals.
